2014 is upon us, and I’m extremely excited. “This is the new year, a new beginning.” and that could not be more true for me and for my family as it is today. Last year was amazing, my family got to experience a lot of fun things together, and last year for me meant that I would give myself a little more attention. I started going back to school, and I began exercising almost daily.
2014 brings me new adventures as well as new challenges, so naturally I have a few resolutions to help me face them.
1. To continue to cherish my children everyday, and not take them for granted.
It’s so very easy to get caught up in the daily stresses of life, and to forget that you must not take today for granted. We’ll bring a new baby into the world this year, and although it will be wonderful I know it will also be stressful. I hope to keep that stress in check and to make memories with my children every single day.
2. To get better organized with my time, as well as within my home.
2013 brought it’s challenges, one of which was losing my job. Since, I’ve found it very challenging to organize and manage my time in the most effective way. I still have a lot to keep me busy; blogging, school full time, pregnancy, two children. But I find it challenging to decide what needs and what gets my attention and when in order to strive in all areas. This being my last year of school, I especially need to do well in my classes, and I would also like to establish myself in the blogging world and find a career that will allow me to still be at home with my babies. In addition to that, this new baby is going to have to share a room with one of my other two kids. Our house already seems impossibly small, so I will need to make room for our new little bundle of joy!
3. To stomp out the negative.
Again, everyday brings it’s challenges and I find it exceedingly hard to not let the stress take over. This year I will stay positive, and I will not hold myself to impossibly high standards. Which leads me to number 4…
4. To cherish myself, and to be proud of who I am.
I wouldn’t say that my self esteem is too low (anymore…I tackled that with last year’s resolution), however I tend to set myself up for failure a lot and expect perfection. I need to let go of those reins a bit and realize my own potential. I believe if I let go of the impossible standards of which I hold myself too, I will actually become MORE successful in all areas of my life.
5. To have more fun!
At first I was going to say save money, then I was going to say to save money for more vacations…but I don’t know how possible that is going to be this year. This will be our MOST challenging year financially, and we may need to find more conventional ways to have fun. But FUN we will have. Both individually AND as a family.
To 2013, you were a banner year! To 2014, I can’t WAIT to see what you bring!
Have you set any resolutions for yourself? What do you see as the biggest challenge you will have to face, and how will you tackle it?
